Coleman Fairmont Camping Sleeping Bags

Coleman make great camping sleeping bags and the Fairmont model is no different.

This model uses the ComfortSmart technology ensuring comfort and durability. It is built for mild conditions down to about 50 degrees and ideally suits people of about 5’11″ in height.

The Coleman Fairmont has a polyester mixed with flannel liner and a polyester cover. It has an outside pocket and uses ZipPlow to avoid snags. It also allows two similar bags to be zipped together. This essentially turns two camping sleeping bags into one double sleeping bag. It has Comfort Cuff which is a cushioning that surrounds the face. Other Coleman features include Roll Control, fiberlock, thermolock, zipperglide and quick cord. All of these features add to the comfort warmth, durability and functionality of these camping sleeping bags. Fiber lock stops the fibres in the insulation layers from moving around and causing lumpiness. Thermo lock locks in body heat which normally escapes through the zipper keeping you warmer. Zipper glide makes operating the zipper super smooth even when you are half asleep. Quick cord allows you to wrap the sleeping bag without the need to tie any knots.

The dimensions of this Coleman camping sleeping bag are 33 inches by 75 inches. With it’s 3 pounds of insulation it will keep you warm down to about 45 degrees.

The purple color is great for kids and there have been a lot of comments from happy parents on these particular camping sleeping bags as being very popular with their young girls.

Coleman Colossal 20-Degree Rectangular Sleeping Bag – Super King

The Colossals ComfortSmart features include: ZipPlow which plows fabric away from the zipper to prevent snags, Comfort Cuff which surrounds your face with softness, Roll Control which locks the bag in place for easier rolling, Fiberlock which prevents insulation from shifting and increases durability, Thermlock which reduces heat loss through the zipper thereby keeping you warmer, Zipper Glide tailoring which allows smooth zipper operation around the corner, and the WrapNRoll carrier which is attached so packing is easy.

For a 3 season sleeping bag it is best to buy for cold. Its a safe bet that on at least one of your adventures, the nighttime temperature will drop unexpectedly. Thats why its smart to buy a bag thats rated for the lowest possible temperature you expect to face on your camping and backpacking trips. For summer trips, a bag rated at +35 degrees or higher will likely do the trick. If you like to camp in higher elevations in the summer, or if spring and fall outings are in your future, consider bags rated from +10 to +35. Winter adventurers should look for bags in the -10 to +10 range, while those on serious winter alpine climbs and expeditions will want a bag rated lower than 10.

Camping Sleeping Bags Review: Coleman Big Game Sleeping Bag with Pillow

I really like this sleeping bag. I bought it for how wide and long this thing is but there are three things I should mention first that I dont like. The first one is how warm it keeps you if your not in the cold weather; you will be boiling at night. Second is the pillow you get. Its small and doesnt have much filling in it but i guess i cant complain though its free with the bag and last I thought it should have came with a bag to put the sleeping bag in instead of the sown on one.

I used this bag a few times in the fall of 07.
With temperatures inside the tent dipping down to 40, I found myself surprisingly comfortable.
