Camping In Manitoba: The Canadian Wilderness

Families look for a number of features in a holiday. They want activities for their children. Showers and washrooms are great, especially for very young kids. If the goal is to introduce children to a world outside of the city, camping in Manitoba will give them the chance to do so without sacrificing the amenities they expect.

With its cute name and ideal location, Rubber Ducky Resort and Campground may make it to your camping short list. Situated at Warren, just twenty minutes from Winnipeg, you will still feel removed from the city. Take a dip in the heated pool, lounge in the hot tub, or play with your children at the playground. A recreation building lets you have fun indoors if the weather turns cold or rainy. Stay in your tent, bring an RV or even book a room at their bed and breakfast. It all depends on how you define roughing it.

Blue Water RV Park and Campground sets you down close to golfing too. Actually, this seems to be a camping theme in the province. You can also take a walk along nature trails or visit the Manitoba Hydro Dam, just in case you thought you were relaxing too much and needed a bit of education. The campground features fifty RV sites, thirty tenting sites, trailer dumping and a shower/washroom facility.

Try Debonair Campground for a restful break near St. Malo. Wireless internet access is available twenty-four hours, seven days each week. Then again, if you came to get a break from technology, just lounge in the hot tub or splash in the beach pond. Your children may appreciate the play equipment where they can stretch out after the forty minute drive from Winnipeg.

Maybe four seasons of camping would be going too far, especially in Canada, but Four Seasons Island Resort near Virden might tempt you. This is an ideal location for a boating holiday. They provide a marina, boat rentals and gas station so you can catch your supper for the night. Two pools make it easy to relax, or build castles on the sandy beach before buying an ice cream at the on-site shop.

Lilac Resort near Ste. Anne resembles a theme park with its many activities. Children will appreciate one giant and two speed slides plus animal slides to entertain the little guys. Four hot tubs make space for weary grown-ups. Take part in a movie or game show night, watch some local entertainment, or just lounge on the sundeck. If you get time, a laundry on-site lets you spruce up after a dusty game of baseball, soccer or basketball. Grab a juice at the juice bar when all of the excitement makes you thirsty.

Spruce Sands has been running for forty years and offers 315 sites where you can park your trailer on a limestone driveway and relax. Thirty amps of power allow you to make yourself at home on the western shores of Lake Winnipeg. Walk to the beach, playground or the shop for a snack. Have a nibble in the air conditioned restaurant, rent a bike or kayak and enjoy the natural world around you. Modern washroom facilities, a shower area and a laundromat let you freshen up after a long day of exploring.

For birding enthusiasts there is Whitemouth River Campground. On-site birding experts can lead you along some of the thirty kilometers of trails to spot native and migratory species. Along with birds you might see snapping or painted turtles. Join them on the water for some fishing, a bicycle ride, or rent one of their cabins for a skiing break. This area does not permit mountain bikes or snowmobiles, so you can expect a quiet vacation here in winter or summer.

Manitoba lake campgrounds are some of the most convenient in Canada. You can consult Canada RV park listings for a camping spot that fills all your fishing, hiking or swimming needs.
