What Camping Gear Should You Bring When You Take Your Kids Camping?

Is it even possible for kids not to have fun when they go camping? Only if you are not prepared. Make sure the basics are taken care of and your kids will have a total blast on your next camping trip!

You’ve heard it said: Safety first. First aid kids are a must. Kids are great at getting bumps and cuts and scrapes when they are outdoors. Make sure your first aid kid is up to par.

Next, bring personal care items. You don’t want to be stuck without toothbrushes, soap, toilet paper, tissues, and other necessary items.

Sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets are next. Extra blankets and pillows can come in very handy and help your kids be more comfortable.

Bring flashlights and lanterns. Having enough for the kids to use will help them have a lot more fun and be safer when it’s dark. Bring extra batteries for them.

If you have small kids, they might get bored without some books, coloring books and crayons, and some small toys to play with. Travel-size board games are great in the car, too.

Food and water can make or break your camping trip. Bring plenty of clean, fresh water. And don’t assume your kids will eat whatever you try to push on them, just because it was cooked over an open flame. Bring foods they enjoy, like marshmallows, hot dogs, chips, and maybe even some candy.

You might like sitting on a tree stump all weekend, but your kids probably won’t. Camping chairs and folding tables can make a huge difference and make your family way more comfortable around the campfire.

Lastly, bring extra clothing. You never know what to expect, so be prepared, just in case!

If you follow these simple tips and bring anything else you know your kids will miss, you’re sure to have a memorable camping trip that your kids will remember for a lifetime.
