Choosing Great Camping Sleeping Bags

by admin No comments »

If you are like me then you love nothing more than getting out into the wild and going camping. And getting the right Camping Sleeping Bags is one thing which will make your camping trip as comfortable and enjoyable as it can be.

Most people are recreational campers and hikers, so it is not really life threatening climates we are concerned about when it comes to choosing a sleeping bag, but climate and temperature are probably the most important factor when considering the type of sleeping bag to buy. Camping Sleeping Bags really do come in many different shapes and sizes so depending on your climate you should choose the one that is right for you. For example a sleeping bag for camping in the north pole would obviously be a lot more insulated than one for camping in California.

Camping Sleeping Bags

There are a number of other factors to consider when buying a suitable sleeping bag:

Most Camping Sleeping Bags have a zip that runs the full length of the bag. This allows it to be laid out flat which means you could lay on top of it for some extra padding or if you are too hot in the night let some heat out.

A thermal insulation value is assigned to most Camping Sleeping Bags these days. This will give you a good indication of how warm it will keep you. It is probably best to be too warm rather than not warm enough as you can always unzip.

If you plan on hiking with a pack you can buy a light sleeping bag that still has a high thermal value. The material and design of the bags effectively trap your body heat. This way you will hike to the top of Everest with ease and you won’t freeze when you tuck in for the night:-)

Another factor to consider is the material of the sleeping bag. One aspect of this is whether then skin of the bag is waterproof or not. Usually this doesn’t matter as most tents these days are waterproof so there is little chance you will get wet while in your tent. However, if you plan on hiking then there is the possibility of getting rained on which could in turn wet your gear and your sleeping bag. Another consideration with the material is the filling. This is usually some kind of artificial substance such as polyester but can sometimes be feathers or down. This is worth noting for people with allergies. Sneezing attracts grizzlies you know!

When you get back from your adventures you are going to want to wash your sleeping bags so it is wise to look for ones that allow you to do this easily. Find out if they are machine washable  as this is obviously the easiest method. You may not be able to tumble dry them so just hang them in the sun to dry.

Camping Sleeping Bags as you probably would have guessed are available over a wide price range. For recreational use though it is very affordable to pick up a great quality sleeping bag that will be durable and comfortable and will last for many great adventures.

Cozy Up With A Fleece Sleeping Bag

by admin No comments »

A fleece sleeping bag is very comfortable for around the house or outside in a tent. Fleece sleeping bags are usually lightweight and easy to take with you on camping trips. They help keep you warm when it is a little chilly, and are known for their softness and durability.  A lot of fleece sleeping bags double as nice blankets or bed spreads when you are not in the wilds of nature or your favorite cushy campground.

Fleece Sleeping Bag

A fleece sleeping bag, beside being so lightweight are also very compact and that makes for easy storage. On top of that, a good fleece sleeping bag, that which is sewn properly, usually lasts quite a long time. Enjoy them for many camping trips and long lazy inside days to come. There is also the fact that most fleece sleeping bags are machine washable and also tend to dry out rather easily and quickly.

Another way to go is a fleece sleeping bag liner. Cheaper than shelling out the cash, for a whole fleece sleeping bag itself, you can simply add the liner to your own sleeping bag and get the comforts without the cost. It can also act as another layer of warmth; this is a good idea for winter months as it provides the softness of fleece while still keeping the layering and warmth of your original camping sleeping bags, only increasing it.

There are also fleece sleeping bag novelties like a big bear kids sleeping bag to hold your little ones or a comfy fleece sleeping bag set that doubles as a makeshift bed. You can also find a number of resources online and in craft magazines on how to use your old, worn out fleece sleeping bag to make new creations. In fact, fleece is a very affordable fabric. Many people choose just to make their own fleece sleeping bags and blankets, and save over half the price of a store bought fleece sleeping bag.

Make a Camping Trip Romantic with a Double Sleeping Bag

by admin No comments »

A double sleeping bag can enhance a normal camping trip for couples and make it a romantic get away in Mother Natures beautiful scenery. Alone time with each other can be comfy and wonderful with a sleeping bag that is made for two. There is also the benefit of shared body heat for those cold nights. There is of course the benefit of experiencing the wonders of camping with your love, making everything seem twice as wonderful and having someone to share and talk with about the majestic sights that you are experiencing.

Camping Site Scenery

A double sleeping bag can be found in many different sizes and colors. Some are specially made and marketed for romantic interests, such as satin interior lining or  a zipper down the middle to allow you to choose whether to be wrapped up by yourself or share skin to skin contact with your partner. Now-a-days, a double sleeping bag can be bought in a set geared to put the romance back into your lives on an outdoor vacation.

Such double sleeping bag sets for the camping couple include such items as two champagne glasses, two sets of sleeping wear and sleeping masks, luxury mattresses or pads, a cozy two person tent with just enough room for you, your sweetie and a lantern lit evening. With these sets you can have your double sleeping bag and share it too! These kits or sets are often found online but sometimes in camping stores as well.

One other advantage to double sleeping bags is the fact that colder weather sleeping bags tend to be thicker, have more material and therefore cost more. However, sharing a double sleeping bag with another allows you the chance to select a sleeping bag made for slightly warmer weather conditions, yet stay warm with shared body heat. Thus, allowing you to spend your money on more romantic items, like that CD of love songs to rekindle the spark lost in busy schedules and the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Try a 3 Season Sleeping Bag

by admin No comments »

For the summer, fall and spring months you can enjoy camping in one type of bag, a 3 season sleeping bag! Usually rated to withstand temperatures as low as freezing, these bags will protect you from cold nights while still being able to enjoy the beauty of changing colors and falling leaves in Autumn or the fresh tranquility of watching  blossoms dot the tree limbs in Spring. 3 season sleeping bags can help you enjoy all of natures comforts, comfortably!

Summer Camping

Now you have to decide the type of 3 season sleeping bag to get buy. You thought they were all the same? Oh no, you have some definite choices to make. Firstly, if you wish to get even more bang for your buck try a synthetic 3 season sleeping bag instead of a goose down sleeping bag, they also dry out quickly if they get wet and are far less expensive than traditional bags.  Not all things about synthetic sleeping bags are great though. There are many factors that make choosing them a tough call.

A synthetic 3 season sleeping bag, although less costly to you, is more costly to the environment. The name gives away the fact that they are not, in fact, natural. Commonly a PrimaLoft filler is used. There is also the fact that a synthetic 3 season sleeping bag tends to weigh more and take up more space. Their design prevents compatibility and they also tend to keep you less warm than a traditional bag, most only covering down to around 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

A good down sleeping bag is the most common pick for people who are not planning on water related activities with their 3 season sleeping bag. The extra cost is made up for in their easy storage and comfortability. Many down camping sleeping bags can insulate down to around 15 to 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Being a more popular choice, they are also found in more colors and a wider assortment of sizes, from children sizes up to your hefty plus size campers. The choice of which 3 season sleeping bag to buy seems to boil down to what you are most comfortable with and the type of camping experience you are expecting.

Celebrate Summer with a Light Sleeping Bag

by admin No comments »

Camp outs are very common in the summer months, the air is warm and the nights don’t usually get too uncomfortably cool. Many camping sites offer refreshing swimming pools and rewarding entertainment and a great time can be had by all with a summer camping trip. Some things to plan specifically for summer time are access to drinking water, shade and the right camping equipment to make this summery fun not turn into a sweltering nightmare.

Light Sleeping Bag for Summer Camping

A light sleeping bag marked f or summer can really be a great investment. These are usually refereed to as traditional camping sleeping bags or warm weather sleeping bags and they protect up to 40 degrees, so unless you are in an area with extremely cold nights versus warm days you should have no problem. A basic rectangular shape should be ideal because the mummy style bags are generally made for colder weather.

Where mummy bags seek to keep you warmer by giving you less space to move in, a light sleeping bag is usually made with ample room inside and of a breathable material to let in any fresh summer breezes, should you choose to leave the screened windows of your tent open to get some fresh air. Since a light sleeping bag is made of thinner and less material they tend to be the cheaper also, with the low end costing you a mere $10 to $15 dollars.

Other than a light sleeping bag, other summer time camping must-haves are a cooler stocked full of ice and beverages like bottled water. If you are going to be spending a lot of time in direct heat, do not drink soda or alcohol which will only dehydrate you further, instead stock up on Gatorade type energy drinks and/or water to make sure you are getting the liquids you expel back into your body.

One last thing to remember along with your light sleeping bag, on your great summer camp out, is a nice place in the shade to park your tent. In the sun, temperatures are 20-40 degrees hotter in direct sunlight, versus a nice shady area. Compare 80 with 120 degrees, where would you rather be? So, keep your summer camping trip fun and enjoyable with a nice place, cold refreshments and a light sleeping bag.

Perfect Kids Sleeping Bag For Your Little Prince or Princess

by admin No comments »

For that little sleeping beauty, there is nothing more comfortable for sleepovers, casual camp outs and fun in the sun than a standard cartoonish, kids sleeping bag emblazoned with ponies, race cars, or their favorite tv characters. But what about when you take the little ones on vacation with you and you plan to spend your nights in a cold climate in the great outdoors?

It is then that you need to think about investing in a cold-weather kids sleeping bag. Such as a fleece sleeping bag to protect that delicate little one. There is also the chance that the weather will change on your trip and you will need a multifaceted kids sleeping bag to get you through.

kids Sleeping Bag

A lot of your choice has to do with your personal preferences and a little common sense. A kids sleeping bag is a lot like their adult counterparts, they have temperature or comfort ratings based on the time of year, season, or location. Anywhere from a ‘Summer’ with the lightest fabric, to an ‘Extreme Winter’ which is the most heavily insulated, kids sleeping bag available. These ratings help to insure you do not get a bag too hot or too cold for your child.

You also need to think about what size is appropriate for your child. Kids sleeping bags are sized by age, from infant/toddler up to pre-teen/teen ages. A note of safety, never leave an infant under the age of 18 months unsupervised in a sleeping bag. There is a danger of suffocation and the risk of SIDS goes up as well.

It is better for babies to instead sleep with you in your own extra wide or double sleeping bag. Sharing body heat also decreases the chance of those very little ones getting too cold and getting ill. Remember to pick your kids sleeping bag well and try to accommodate the individual child. Make your camping trip memorable and above all, have fun!

Camping Sleeping Bags Review: Coleman Big Game Sleeping Bag with Pillow

by admin No comments »

I really like this sleeping bag. I bought it for how wide and long this thing is but there are three things I should mention first that I dont like. The first one is how warm it keeps you if your not in the cold weather; you will be boiling at night. Second is the pillow you get. Its small and doesnt have much filling in it but i guess i cant complain though its free with the bag and last I thought it should have came with a bag to put the sleeping bag in instead of the sown on one.

I used this bag a few times in the fall of 07.
With temperatures inside the tent dipping down to 40, I found myself surprisingly comfortable.

Coleman Rimstone Sleeping Bag Review

by admin No comments »

As a first time camper, I wanted a sleeping bag that was comfortable and warm and I found it. The material inside kept me warm all night… the temperature dropped to below 42 degrees. It was cold! I knew the next day that I would have to drive into town and purchase a blanket to put over top of me. After speaking with other campers in my group I realized I had the best sleeping bag. I would suggest bringing a warm blanket for the ride, as no sleeping bag can keep you that warm in 42 degree weather.

The Coleman 8041-741 Rimstone 30-degree Sleeping Bag is a comfortable three-season rectangular sleeping bag. At 33-inches by 75-inches, the full-size Rimstone fits most body types up to five-feet 11-inches long. With four pounds of Hollofil-808 insulation, this mild-temperature sleeping bag keeps you warm in temperatures down to 30-degrees Fahrenheit. Features include a polyester cover and cotton flannel liner that are machine washable, an exterior pocket, and the ability to zip two like-bags together when sleeping with another.

Coleman Colossal 20-Degree Rectangular Sleeping Bag – Super King

by admin No comments »

All Coleman sleeping bags are designed with ComfortSmart technology to keep you comfortable. The Colossals ComfortSmart features include: ZipPlow which plows fabric away from the zipper to prevent snags, Comfort Cuff which surrounds your face with softness, Roll Control which locks the bag in place for easier rolling, Fiberlock which prevents insulation from shifting and increases durability, Thermlock which reduces heat loss through the zipper thereby keeping you warmer, Zipper Glide tailoring which allows smooth zipper operation around the corner, and the WrapNRoll carrier which is attached so packing is easy.

For a 3 season sleeping bag it is best to buy for cold. Its a safe bet that on at least one of your adventures, the nighttime temperature will drop unexpectedly. Thats why its smart to buy a bag thats rated for the lowest possible temperature you expect to face on your camping and backpacking trips. For summer trips, a bag rated at +35 degrees or higher will likely do the trick. If you like to camp in higher elevations in the summer, or if spring and fall outings are in your future, consider bags rated from +10 to +35. Winter adventurers should look for bags in the -10 to +10 range, while those on serious winter alpine climbs and expeditions will want a bag rated lower than 10.

Camping 101

by Savannah Hofmeister No comments »

Had it with all the “rat race”? Got time off but not much cash to spend? Losing touch with the family? Sounds somewhat old-fashioned campout is exactly what you may need.

Camping is a fantastic means to enjoy the outdoors and spend time getting reacquainted with your family. Great family camping getaways are easy to plan and cheap vacation options. Nature is everywhere, which means you don’t need to go far for the camping trip. You can journey to a national park, drive to a nearby campground, or pitch a tent in your own backyard.

Camping 101 begins with the planning. This part of the trip is half the fun. Call a family meeting to decide where you’d like to go. Depending on your budget, you can plan to load up the trunk with tents and sleeping bags, pull a camper or drive an RV. The point is to treat your family to an unforgettable outdoor adventure, so it doesn’t matter how you plan to camp or where you intend to go.

If you are new to the camping experience, it’s probably a great idea to start off slow. Book a weekend campsite to get the feel for the camping lifestyle. Get used to cooking over a wood fire and sharing your space with wildlife, before you decide to venture too far away from the conveniences of home. A lot of campgrounds provide fun activities like pools, playgrounds, fishing or recreational boating, so check your local listings to see what activities lay ahead.

Once your kids (and you) get over the shock of having no television or Internet access, you will all have an eye-opening experience. You will know the nature’s fun. Camping opens the doors to a realm of new activities, like swimming, rock diving, boating, fishing, hiking, catching butterflies, looking for fossils, and going wherever your energy level and imagination can take you. Campgrounds and remote parks are full of wonderful ways to enjoy the best nature has to offer. If you would like boat or water ski, a lot of campsites offer these along with other items for rent.

Don’t expect to take with you your day-to-day dinnerware and automatic coffeepot for your campout. Don’t forget, you will be roughing it, so pack accordingly. Bring plastic dishes and cutlery that can be washed and reused, but won’t break in transit. Make sure you have plenty of sleeping-bags, pillows and additional clothes. Pack the meals you will need, plus a little extra, and keep a supply of ice on hand for perishables like meat and dairy. If you are bringing tins of beans, don’t forget a manual can opener or pack your Swiss army knife. If you aren’t sure what things to bring, ask an associate at your local sporting store to assist you to select your camping needs. Call on friends who like to camp, and ask them for tips.

Just like your old scoutmaster used to say, “Always be prepared”. Make a list and check it 3 times before you decide to leave on your camping getaway. Make certain that there is enough food and fresh water for everyone. Bring food that can be easily prepared on your campsite. Pack clothing for all kinds of weather. Do not forget sunscreen, bug spray and hygiene items. Toilet paper and paper towels are absolute necessities. Bring along some soap and toothpaste, but leave the hair gel and makeup at home. Mother Nature doesn’t care what you look like. She just wants you to experience your stay.

RV Parks in Arizona

by Mary Mackintosh No comments »

Arizona RV parks are a common enough occurrence. This is probably because of the wide range of temperatures within a relatively small geographic location. Of course, this is the west, where “small” distances are probably much more vast than in the eastern United States. However, the temperature differences between mountain and desert areas in Arizona are enough to set records.

Of all metropolitan areas in the US, Phoenix has the most days that reach 100 degrees or more (110 days on average) and Flagstaff has nearly the most days that reaches 32 or less among the contiguous 48 states. This national extreme of temperatures exists with less than a two hour drive between them. This difference in temperatures is primarily due to a nearly 5000 foot elevation difference between the two locations. In summer, Flagstaff enjoys temperatures that rarely go above the 90s, and commonly stays comfortably in the 70s and 80s during the day. Phoenix, in what is technically winter, generally feels more like spring or fall in places that have four seasons, with an average of only 10 days per year dipping below the freezing point at night. Both places have abundant sunshine and low humidity.

Arizona RV parks take advantage of the wide range of temperatures in a relatively small area. Many people, particularly retirees, will live in Phoenix in the winter and in the northern high country in summer. Because owning two homes is expensive, an RV can be the way to go. RV parks in Arizona are reasonably-priced enough that staying in one for half the year can be a viable option.

Often, RV parks in Arizona are located near highways, so that campers and travelers can use them for a short stay, and get back on the road as soon as possible. In this way, Arizona RV parks function more like hotels or motels, except with nicer accommodations for the price. Because of the low overhead required to maintain an RV park versus a hotel, the place can charge much less per night. There is also the added comfort factor. In an RV, everything is where the owner has left it, much like a home. Things are much more customizable, and you know that everything is as clean as you left it. There is no wondering about who slept in the bed the night before, or how often the carpet has been cleaned.

In short, RV parks can be both a great way to travel around the country more cheaply and comfortably than motels, or can be effectively used for extended stay at a location for much more economically than building a second home.

Camping Food Ideas

by Jaysen Milch No comments »

When camping, it is important to take masses of food and water to stay nourished. These items should be easy to store, straightforward to carry when out on the trail and easy to keep fresh. Non perishable and dried items are best to take, but perishable items can be used if you've got access to a fridge or cooler that may maintain the cold for the duration of your trip.

There are specialty stores that carry food supplies especially intended for camping. Nevertheless these items can be dear. They usually consist of pre packaged food and meals that are freeze-dried. Frequently the food is tasteless and may not be as healthful as a fresh meal.

With a bit of planning , however , it's feasible to have nutritious, simple to prepare meals right from the grocery store. There are many foods that are light weight, straightforward to store and non perishable. Cereals, nuts, dried fruit and candy are very good nibbles and can be mixed for an energy boosting trail mix. All those ingredients are widely available in a food store and can be made up before leaving and stored in a vacuum jar. Adding some packets into your back-pack will supply a healthy break while on the trail.

Always bring plenty of water for hydration and cooking. Do not forget you’ll also need water for cleaning dishes after cooking. You can also bring drink mixes and coffee or tea to mix with the water for a pick me up in the morning. Any foods that require simply adding water are great. Cup of soup packets where you add some water and let it steep are great for a fast and simple warm meal or snack. They are great for colder weather conditions to help keep warm.

Canned meat, meats that do not need refrigeration and canned veggies are a superb source of nutrition. Tuna fish and canned chicken may be employed in many recipes. Making stews out of canned meat and canned veggies will supply you a good meal that is easy to prepare and straightforward to wash. Salami does not need to be cooked and is great on crackers for a snack. Meat jerky is a standard camping snack that will provide nourishment and augment energy while on the trail. Just remember though that if you take any canned products to also bring a can opener.

For sweets, candy and dried fruits are glorious. But who can resist a traditional s’more? Marshmallows, chocolate bars and graham crackers are lightweight and can be carried and stored without trouble. Sitting to a fire while roasting marshmallows and melting chocolate onto the graham cracker is an enjoyable way to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Remember that when you're camping you will need to carry items with you on walks and nature walks. Select things that are light-weight and do not require lots of cleaning. Bring a range of meat, cheeses, breads, nibbles and sweets. Camping is a temporary state and you need to concentrate on simplicity of preparation and fun. Do not be disturbed that you may not be getting the most sensible meal or gourmet food. There is a ton of time for that at home. Enjoy the fire, keep your energy level up and have a good time.

Coleman Scanoe: The Ultimate Canoe for Versatility

by Marty Wattiers No comments »

Looking for a canoe can be a bit overwhelming because of the variety of sizes and styles available. To make the choosing a bit easier it is important to first determine what the boat will be used for. For example, will you be using your boat for fishing or just paddling around?

The Coleman Scanoe can be the perfect choice for any canoe owner because it allows for much more versatility and functionality than many other canoe type boats. It can be used on lakes, ponds, rivers, and even on the ocean.

This boat is large enough to easily accommodate several people and a bit of gear at one time. It measures 14 feet long, over 3 feet wide and has a safe carrying capacity of 800 lbs. A squared off stern is different than most canoes and is very convenient when attaching a small motor. The square stern is also a nice feature because it does not hinder the boat’s ability to glide effortlessly through the water when going forward.

Because this boat is built much like a standard canoe, it can be maneuvered and paddled along just as easily. Although a motor is not included with the purchase, the mount for a motor is an added convenience for those who want to do some trolling or want a relaxing boat ride without having to paddle.

Being made of polyethylene and having three seats built in, this boat offers stability and durability on the water. The polyethylene construction is a definite benefit for this boat because it is lightweight, durable and can be easily repaired if needed.

To find the best price for the Coleman Scanoe, I suggest searching outdoor stores, local classified ads, and online.

Why Does a Quechua Tent Get Used More Than Other Tents?

by Lydia Clark No comments »

If you have not already seen one in action, you may wonder what all the excitement is about the 2-second Quechua tents. They literally open in two seconds or less, automatically. All you have to do is step on a few stakes to tie down the tent if it is a windy day. But that doesn’t explain why Quechua tents are used more often than other tents. To understand why you see Quechua Tents everywhere, consider the usefulness factor.

Even if you and I both owned a tent of similar structural quality and size, if mine was a 2-second pop-up tent and yours was not, you would see mine up in the back yard much more frequently than I would see yours. Why? Because people often buy tents but then never put them up because of the hassle involved in setting them up.

Will it cost more to get a tent that sets up on its own? Yes, it will cost you a few extra bucks, but how much is a tent worth if all it ever does is sit in your garage because it’s too much of a hassle to assemble? It makes a lot more sense to spend an extra $15 or $25 to get a tent that you and your family will use often. You’ll get your money back ten times over because of the increased frequency of use.

If you have ever tried camping with buddies, you have probably at one time or another experienced the frustration of arriving at your camping site after dark, and trying to find the various pieces of your tent using flashlights as you argue about what the instructions say. It’s difficult to read instructions in the dark, especially when you are hungry and tired and just wants to get the fire going. A Quehua tent is different. You just throw it in the right direction and then go sit by your campfire.

Another important consideration when looking into buying a tent is the warranty. Some tent manufacturers don’t bother with warrantees because the wear and tear on the fabric is bound to result in tears, and they don’t plan on refunding your purchase or making repairs. There are a lot of companies that capitalize on discount retailers and the people that trust that the retailer would not carry a product if it was not of a high quality. The truth is, in most cases the discount retailers take the products that give the appearance of low prices on quality goods. Appearances, as you know, can be deceiving. A Quechua Tent is an investment with a lot of value because you will be using it long after the discount tent was assembled for the last time. When you see your love ones enjoying a camping trip or a nice view in a park, remember that there really is no substitute for quality. That goes for quality time too, so get out there and spend some time with your family in the great outdoors.

Going Hunting Or Boating? Here Are Some Safety Tips To Remember

by Beth Swanson No comments »

Considered as the two most popular outdoor activities are boating and hunting. We will take a look at each of them and discuss some of the safety risk involved in the following article.

Boating When we say boating, it usually refers to the recreational use of a pleasure craft. Two common activities along with many other sports would be waterskiing and fishing. All around the world, millions of boaters can be found as it is an incredibly popular activity.

Safety in Boating For most people, the last thing on their mind when they go out boating on the water is emergency preparation. Over time, this is a mistake which has cost a lot of people their lives. Being prepared for an emergency is absolutely vital if you are going to go out boating. Someone falling overboard, boat breakdowns, boat leaks and capsizing are some common boating emergencies.

Not only is proper safety equipment recommended, but it is also mandatory in most places. Boating safety equipment includes life buoys, life jackets and ladders. Also recommended and required in most areas is a horn and bailer. Survival suits, especially when boating in cold water where the risk of hypothermia is greater, are also recommended.

In order to ensure a safe trip, proper maintenance of your boat is essential. If there is no proper maintenance, then your boat has a much greater risk of breaking down which will put the lives of everyone on board including yourself at risk.

When it Comes to Hunting Defined as the practice of pursuing some type of animal while attempting to capture or even kill it is hunting. Hunting dates back many, many years and is a very celebrated pastime.

Hunting Safety All firearms, when not in use, should be unloaded. It’s likely that the people around you may not be aware that your firearm is loaded even if you are. If you are carrying a gun that is loaded, then you should avoid hopping over a fence or climbing into your tree stand. Don’t forget to unload the gun when you are traveling on an ATV or other vehicle.

Make sure that you are aware of what is in front of your target before you shoot it as well as what is behind it. Many hunters leave this part out as they assume that they will not miss. But that should not be the case.

Using common sense all the time is the most important safety tip that we can offer you. Do not at any time allow your emotions to override common sense while you are hunting.

If you get lost, then taking a compass and a map with you will help you. Even a flashlight is a good idea in case you become lost in the dark. The flashlight will also help in avoiding snakes and other potentially dangerous animals.

Following these tips will allow you a much better chance of having a safe and enjoyable time boating or hunting.

When Finding The Perfect Used Boat

by Arlene Case No comments »

More than just locating a boat for sale is choosing the right boat. Knowing what’s truly important to you is what it’s all about. Deciding on whether you’ll be using the boat for your private use, cruising, or fishing is what you need to do. You should also consider your families wishes and feelings, since buying a boat for your own personal needs without consulting your family will probably lead to disappointing experiences or less time spent on the water.

The 5 categories that boats fall into are power boats, sailboats, personal watercraft, self powered boats, and fishing boats. If you want to find the perfect boat, then have a look at the features they offer.

The designs for fishing boats will vary quite a bit, as are the places you can use them. The boats that are meant for shallow waters of inland lakes and rivers are not the same boats meant for deep seas and great lakes. There are many different designs, even boats that serve no other purpose besides fishing.

Normally, these types of boats have special tanks to hold live fish, stowage and holders for bait, fishing poles, and tackle. Other types of fishing only boats feature an open platform where anglers can fight fish from all sides of the boat.

Power boats are the most popular boats sold. As varied as their uses are the designs on and of power boats. Boats with seating in the front are mainly used for towing skiers or rafts and are called bow riders. Some boats can be used for fishing. Available combinations are ski and fish if you should want to do both.

It can be very challenging when you first learn to pilot a sailboat but it can also be rewarding. Once mastered, they’re considered more rewarding although it would require more skill and knowledge to operate them.

With all available sailboats, the single masted sloop is the most popular design. Dinghies, daysailers, and catboats are small and easily trailer able.

When you’ve decided on the perfect boat for you, you need to look at what each one offers and how you’ll use it. To find the perfect boat for you, find the one that matches your needs.
